Biography

PHTML/3.0:resource (4)   julie e lee is a historian & author specializing in Louisiana's exploration era to the dawn of the 20th century.  A native New Orleanian,  residing in Colorado, her journey back in time converges with colonial France and Spain, the Americans & the Louisiana Purchase, antebellum  America, American Civil War and Reconstruction.  The historical and social threads - plantation and slave society, diversity of peoples, cultures, traditions & languages, colonial & political powers, as well as the unique class structure -  weave an intricate story of the past, defining Louisiana and part of the United States today.  It is a remarkable story about those famous and not-so-famous who have shaped a relatively unknown facet of Louisiana and  the United States.

 

Liberating this remarkable story to a broad audience is her mission. A graduate of Ohio University at Athens with a B.B.A., Julie blends two decades of invaluable business expertise, her lifelong passion of education and history, and knowledge as an independent historian to make this vision a reality. Julie authors, directs and delivers presentations at historical and cultural events as well as liberating the history online. Founder and Director of Creole West Productions she develops edutainment products -  bringing history alive for all generations and disciplines, for further understanding of the footprints of the past.  Her membership in a cross-section of historical, cultural, academic and educational organizations offers an extraordinary network and resource for her work.  In 2005, Julie was a recipient of the "Creole Peoples Award" by the Creole Heritage Center of Northwestern State University at Natchitoches.
